UditVani, Jamshedpur: Students of the School of Engineering and Technology at Sona Devi University, Ghatshila, embarked on an industrial learning tour to Hindustan Copper Limited’s Musabani Concentrator Plant on December 5, 2025. The visit offered an immersive look into the workings of India’s copper mining and processing industry.

During the tour, students observed how copper ore from Surda, Rakha and nearby mines is scientifically refined and enriched to produce high-quality copper. HCL officials — Deputy General Manager J.P. Mishra, Senior Officer M.Z. Khan and Electrical Engineer Shweta Kumari — detailed each stage of plant operations, including crushing, grinding, flotation, quality control and strict safety protocols.

The session also familiarised students with real-world applications of mining, mechanical, electrical and process engineering, strengthening their technical understanding and exposing them to future employment opportunities in industrial sectors.
The visit was coordinated by Engineering Department Head Pooja Tiwari, Mechanical Department Head Vinay Prakash Choudhary, and Training & Placement Cell members Siddhant Kumar and Dr. Neelmani Kumar.
