Jamshedpur : In a swift and strategic operation, Kadma Police on Sunday arrested two individuals in possession of illegal firearms, effectively foiling a potential major criminal activity in the LIC Ground area.
Acting on a confidential tip-off, a team led by Sub-Inspector Alok Kumar Dubey, Officer-in-Charge of Kadma Police Station, conducted a well-coordinated raid around 11.30 a on Sunday.
The operation was initiated under the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, with City SP supervising the task force.
The suspects—Ankur Singh (25) of New Khata Basti, Sonari, and Upendra Singh (22) of Aryanand Dev Nagar, Sitaramdera—attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended.
A search led to the recovery of two country-made pistols, three live cartridges, two iPhones, and 14 other mobile phones.
During interrogation, Upendra Singh disclosed that the weapon had been supplied by Ankur Singh, a known criminal who had recently been released from jail and was reportedly attempting to regroup and form a new gang in the city.
Ankur Singh has a previous criminal record and was earlier booked in Sonari P.S. Case No. 111/22 under Sections 302, 120(B), 34 IPC and various sections of the Arms Act.
The successful raid involved the efforts of several dedicated officers including Constables Pintu Kumar, Santosh Kumar, Deepak Kumar Sahu, Ritesh Saw, Rakesh Yadav, Ritesh Tiwary, Bablu Kumar Singh, and Nikhil Kumar.
A formal case has been registered under Kadma Police Station Case No. 45/25, dated May 19, 2025, under Sections 25(1-B)a/26/35 of the Arms Act. Further investigations are ongoing to unravel the larger network involved.
The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the police’s crackdown on illegal arms and organized crime in East Singhbhum.
