Udit Vani, Jamshedpur : The recent water tragedy caused by a burst high-pressure raw water supply pipeline of Tata Steel UISL at Dev Nagar Gandhi Ashram in Baradwari has reached the administrative corridors.
On Tuesday, Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu met East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ananya Mittal, urging for immediate rehabilitation and fair compensation for the affected families. Several victims from Gandhi Ashram were also present during the meeting.
MLA Purnima Sahu informed the deputy commissioner that the residents of Gandhi Ashram belong to the most vulnerable sections of society and already struggle to meet their daily needs.
The water disaster has left them devastated—roofs of many homes were damaged, household items, books, and food supplies were destroyed, leaving dozens of families in a dire state.
During the meeting, MLA Sahu appealed to the district administration to treat the matter with humanitarian urgency, ensuring quick rehabilitation and adequate compensation for the victims so they can return to normal life.
She also submitted a detailed list of affected families to the deputy commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal assured that the administration is taking the matter seriously and is considering all aspects to provide prompt relief and necessary assistance to the affected families.
Also present during the meeting were MLA representative Gunjan Yadav, Gandhi Ashram residents Santosh Seth, Dhan Singh, Mitru Pradhan, and others.
