Jamshedpur : The 26-member squad of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team for the upcoming tour of Australia has been announced.
Salima Tete from Simdega district, Jharkhand, has been named the captain of the team. In a proud moment for the state, five talented players from Jharkhand have made it to the national squad.
Along with Salima Tete, the team includes Beauty Dungdung, Deepika Soreng, Mahima Tete, and Anjana Dungdung (as a standby player).
The Indian team will play five matches in Australia from April 26 to May 4. This tour is seen as a crucial preparation for the upcoming FIH Pro League scheduled for June.
The players from Jharkhand have been entrusted with key roles in the squad. Beauty Dungdung and Deepika Soreng will play in the forward line, focusing on aggressive attacking, while Salima Tete and Mahima Tete will control the midfield and build pressure on the opposition.
