UditVani,Jamshedpur: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) deactivated more than 2.25 lakh mobile phone numbers in Bihar and Jharkhand in April this year. Majority of the sim cards were allegedly procured through forged documents.
The rising cases of unauthorised SIM cards have long been a problem for both cardholders and the government authorities.
DoT has launched a TAFCOP portal (Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management & Consumer Protection) that allows individuals to check the usage of a mobile number on his or her name without their permission or knowledge. The affected users can also block the numbers that are issued in their name.
How to check your number:
Step 1: Visit the TAFCOP portal- https://tafcop.sancharsaathi.gov.in/telecomUser/
Step 2: Enter your mobile number in the respective space.
Step 3: Click on the “Request OTP” button.
Step 4: Enter the OTP.
Step 5: You will see all the linked mobile numbers with your Aadhaar number.
Step 6: If you find any of them are out of order, remove them.
The department will issue a ticket ID to track the requests.
How Many Mobile Numbers Can Subscribers Hold in their Name?
As per the existing guidelines only nine mobile connections can be issued to an individual. If anybody is found allotted more mobile numbers beyond nine that amounts to misuse and through this portal the government wants to curb the menace.
How to Check Which Mobile Number Is Linked With your Aadhaar number?
