UditVani, Jamshedpur : Tata Steel marked a proud sporting milestone by officially fielding its own team — the Chero Archers — in the inaugural Archery Premier League.
The team’s official kit was unveiled today in the presence of D. B. Sundara Ramam, Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel; Manish Mishra, Chief CRE, Tata Steel; and Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief Sports, Tata Steel. The launch underlines Tata Steel’s long-standing commitment to promoting Indian sports, particularly archery.
The creation of the Chero Archers reflects Tata Steel’s legacy of nurturing world-class talent through the Tata Archery Academy, which has produced Olympians, celebrated coaches, and national champions over the years.
Named after the Chero dynasty of Jharkhand — known for courage, strength, and cultural heritage — the team embodies this spirit as it seeks to elevate archery on a national platform.
In their first match of the season against the Chola Chiefs, the Chero Archers delivered a spirited performance in a closely fought contest but narrowly missed out on victory. The team featured Mathias Fullerton, Katharina Bauer, Prithika, and Atanu Das, who showcased admirable skill and determination.
The squad brings together a blend of seasoned players and emerging talent from India and abroad, united by their passion for archery and teamwork.
For Tata Steel, sports are integral to its identity, and archery has always held a special place. With the launch of the Chero Archers, the company reaffirms its commitment to supporting sporting excellence and carrying forward its proud legacy.
Tata Steel expresses gratitude for the encouragement and support received and extends its best wishes to the Chero Archers for the rest of the season.
