UDIT VANI Jamshedpur : Tata Steel UISL inaugurated two new 33/6.6 kV power substations at Tinplate and Sakchi today, further reinforcing its commitment to delivering robust and reliable power infrastructure across Jamshedpur.
The facilities were inaugurated by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, and Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director, Tata Steel UISL. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of senior leaders including Vijay Prakash Singh, Sr. General Manager, Power Service Division, Tata Steel UISL, Raghunath Pandey, President, Tata Steel Utilities and Services Shramik Union, Varun Bajaj, Chief, Town Infrastructure, Tata Steel, Harinder Verma, Chief, Electrical T&D, along with other senior officials of Tata Steel UISL.
The Tinplate Substation will supply power to the densely populated eastern region of Jamshedpur, covering key localities such as Agrico, Bhuiyadih, Baridih, Sidhgora, Bhalubasa, Sitaramdera, Garabasa, Tuiladungri, Golmuri, Vidyapatinagar, Vijaya Garden, and surrounding areas benefiting a population of approximately 2.5 to 3 lakh residents.
The Sakchi Substation will cater to areas including Kasidih, Baradawari, and Aambagan, ensuring stable and enhanced electricity distribution in these urban pockets.
These substations have been developed to meet the rising power demands of the city. Over the years, the growing population, urban expansion, and increased economic activity have led to a significant surge in electricity consumption. One of the major contributors to this rise is the widespread proliferation of air conditioners, which has added substantial load to the power distribution network often pushing the existing infrastructure beyond its firm capacity. The newly commissioned substations will address this challenge by improving load distribution and enhancing reliability for consumers.
Tata Steel UISL remains committed to building sustainable, smart, and efficient urban utilities to cater to the evolving needs of Jamshedpur and its citizens.
