UditVani, Jamshedpur: The manufacturing sector is the largest consumer of commercial energy. In producing about a fifth of India’s GDP, this sector consumes about half the commerical energy available in the country. Energy efficiency and management in MSMEs will give sizable environmental as well as economic benefits.
Jamshedpur is predominantly an industrial city with major emphasis on core & heavy industries and MSMEs situated in the Adityapur Industrial Area. For these enterprises, energy costs are high.
Considering this a workshop on ‘Skill enhancement of operators & supervisors on energy efficiency, best-operating practices and O&M’ was conducted by Tata Steel UISL at Auto Cluster Auditorium, Adityapur on Tuesday. The faculties for the training were SK Sinha, Addl. Director, Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and experts from The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI). TERI has demonstrated a range of technologies and practices that have helped small and medium enterprises to reduce their carbon footprint and improve their profitability. Around 56 participants from 33 industries attended the workshop.
Prem Ranjan JAS Dy. Regional Director, JIADA was the chief guest of the programme and SN Thakur, Inder Agarwal, Santosh Khetan, President ASIA and VP Singh from Tata Steel UISL spoke about the benefits of energy efficiency and energy conservation.
