UditVani, Jamshedpur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph at isolated places across several parts of Jharkhand over the next six days.
According to the latest weather bulletin, an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over south Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining parts of Jharkhand and Odisha between 1.5 km and 3.1 km above mean sea level. Another upper air cyclonic circulation, which earlier lay over east Vidarbha and adjoining Chhattisgarh, has shifted to southeast Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring areas and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.
Under the influence of these weather systems, thunderstorm activity is expected to continue across the state.

June 2-3: Thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) likely at isolated places over southern and adjoining central parts of Jharkhand.
June 4-5: Similar weather conditions likely over northeastern and adjoining central districts. June 6: Thunderstorm and gusty winds expected over southern and central parts of the state. June 7: Thunderstorm and lightning likely at isolated places over central parts of Jharkhand. The IMD has advised people to remain alert during thunderstorm activity and avoid taking shelter under trees or near electric poles during lightning events.
Monsoon
The southwest monsoon is yet to make its onset over the Kerala coast. Meteorologists indicate that prevailing atmospheric conditions are not currently favourable for its advance, and it is expected to take a few more days before the monsoon reaches Kerala. The progress of the monsoon over the Arabian Sea and adjoining regions is being closely monitored, with further updates likely in the coming days.
