
UditVani, Jamshedpur : A three-day free eye care and surgery camp, titled Netra Jyoti Yagna, has been organised in the revered memory of late Sona Devi with the aim of restoring eyesight and improving the quality of life of the underprivileged.
The humanitarian initiative is a joint effort of the Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust and Sona Devi University, Ghatshila.
The camp offers comprehensive eye examinations, free treatment and cataract surgeries with intraocular lens implantation for needy patients.
Eminent ophthalmologists Dr B. P. Singh, Dr Poonam Singh, Dr Bharti Sharma, Dr Vivek Kedia and Dr Anand Sushrut conducted detailed eye check-ups on January 24.
Based on medical evaluation, patients requiring surgical intervention underwent operations on January 25 with proper medical care and supervision.
Following successful treatment and post-operative observation, all patients will be formally discharged with due care and dignity on the afternoon of January 26.
The camp is being hosted at Ram Manohar Lohia Eye Hospital, Bagbera, Jamshedpur, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, East Singhbhum.
Organised under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of the Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust, the initiative stands as a compassionate endeavour to bring light into the lives of those suffering from preventable and curable eye disorders.
