UditVani, Jamshedpur : Last season’s runners-up are back with renewed focus as Jamshedpur FC gear up for the newly restructured U-18 AIFF Elite Youth League, starting November 29 with an away fixture against Ramakrishna Mission.
Under head coach Kaizad Ambapardiwalla, the squad has been training with intensity and a clear target — to go one step further this year.
Kaizad acknowledged that stepping up to the U-18 category brings tougher, faster competition. “The boys gained a lot of confidence from last year, but this level is more physical and much quicker. We’ve been working on intensity, transitions, and decision-making because one moment can decide a match,” he said. “There’s a genuine hunger in the group to push deeper this season.”
The rise of forward Heeranganba Seram — recently selected for India’s U-17 squad for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers — has been a major inspiration. “It’s huge for us,” Kaizad shared. “Seeing a teammate achieve that level makes the dream feel reachable for everyone. It has definitely lifted the energy and ambition.”
Grouped in a challenging Group G, Jamshedpur FC face strong academies and demanding travel through a three-month home-and-away schedule totaling 14 matches. After the opener on November 29, they host SAIL Football Academy at the Flatelet Ground on December 7, followed by away games in Varanasi, Patna, Bhubaneswar, and Bokaro.
Kaizad stressed adaptability as the key to success: “Every venue brings different challenges — pitches, weather, environment. We want to stick to our playing identity but be smart enough to adapt. That’s where the boys will mature.”
With weekly fixtures, squad management will be closely monitored. “These are developing athletes — workload and recovery are crucial. We have structured weekly plans and we rotate when needed. Everyone will contribute.”
Many players have been together for over a year, and the coach believes that unity is their biggest asset. “Their understanding is excellent — they communicate, support each other, and stay disciplined. Our strengths lie in work rate, compact defensive shape, and attacking with intent.”
As the countdown to kickoff continues, Jamshedpur FC U-18 look ready to channel their hunger into a powerful new campaign.
