UditVani, Jamshedpur : Birsanagar police have cracked the November 10 robbery at Vishwakarma Engineering, arresting two accused—Ajit Behra and Babu Sardar alias Nepu—and sending them to judicial custody.
From their possession, police recovered Rs 1.23 lakh in cash, a country-made pistol, live cartridges, a scooter, a helmet, and a mobile phone purchased using the stolen money.
City SP Kumar Shivashish today informed at a media briefing that Ajit Behra, an employee of the firm and the mastermind of the crime, had a previous criminal record. Using his knowledge of the company’s operations, he plotted the robbery with four associates. While two have been arrested, two others remain on the run.
During interrogation, the accused denied stealing Rs 10.25 lakh, claiming the amount was around Rs 4.5 lakh. Police believe the remaining cash is with the absconding accused and are conducting raids to locate them.
Officials said Ajit’s insider access made planning and executing the crime easier. They expect the entire gang to be exposed once the remaining accused are arrested.
