UditVani, Jamshedpur : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rainfall across Jharkhand between September 9 and 11, bringing much-needed relief after recent dry spells.
According to the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at a few places on September 9.
The intensity and coverage will increase on September 10 and 11, with many parts of the state likely to experience showers.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently extends from a deep depression over Southeast Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan and Kutch, passing through Kota, Orai, Siddhi, Ranchi, Digha and further eastwards into the northeast Bay of Bengal. Additionally, an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, off the Odisha–Andhra Pradesh coast, between 1.5 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level, tilting southwards with height.
Despite weak monsoon activity in recent days, isolated areas of Jharkhand recorded light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms.
Overall, Jharkhand continues to maintain a seasonal rainfall surplus of 21%, a positive sign for the state’s agriculture sector.
