
UditVani, Jamshedpur : The Department of Physiology at Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC), Jamshedpur, organized a prestigious National CME (Continuing Medical Education) and Workshop on the theme “Diabetic Neuropathy: Autonomic Function Tests as Key to Early Diagnosis.”
The event organised today brought together distinguished faculty members, clinicians, and research scholars from across India and abroad for an immersive day of academic discourse and hands-on training.
The workshop featured in-depth sessions on cutting-edge diagnostic techniques. Dr. Shival Srivastav, Associate Professor, Department of Physiology, AIIMS Jodhpur, conducted an interactive session on Autonomic Function Assessment, while Dr. Mitesh Sinha, Professor, Department of Physiology, Birsa Munda Government Medical College, Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, led a hands-on training session on Nerve Conduction Testing. These sessions served as the central highlights of the event, blending theory with practical application.
Scientific lectures by eminent experts, including Dr. Ashok Jaryal (AIIMS Delhi), Dr. Madhumita Sen (AIMST University, Malaysia), Dr. Shival Srivastav (AIIMS Jodhpur), and Dr. Rajesh Kumar Thakur (Tata Motors Hospital, Jamshedpur), emphasized a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach for early diagnosis and management of diabetic autonomic neuropathy. The sessions underscored the integration of clinical observation with standardized tests and updated treatment protocols to improve patient outcomes.
Adding a touch of academic engagement and excitement, the event also featured “Neuro-Quest: The Autonomic Challenge,” a themed crossword puzzle competition for MBBS Phase I students. The contest promoted critical thinking and deeper conceptual understanding in a dynamic and enjoyable format.
The CME saw the participation of over 80 delegates in-person and more than 300 participants online, with registrations pouring in from various parts of India and overseas. The event was graced by the Dean In-Charge of MTMC, Director – Academic Administration, Associate Deans, and other key officials, alongside the organizing team from the Department of Physiology.
The valedictory session included a prize distribution ceremony recognizing the winners of the Neuro-Quest challenge. The successful culmination of the event reinforced MTMC’s role in promoting evidence-based clinical education and research.
