Udit Vani Jamshedpur : In a targeted operation, cops from Adityapur police dtation in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district arrested a youth allegedly involved in brown sugar peddling near Jayprakash Udyan.
Acting on a confidential tip-off, the police conducted a swift raid and seized ten packets of the banned substance from the accused.
The youth, identified as Avinash Pradhan, was reportedly found loitering suspiciously around the park. Upon his search, authorities recovered ten small packets of brown sugar. He was immediately taken into custody and has since been remanded to judicial custody.
According to Adityapur Police Station in-charge Vinod Tiwari, the department had received specific intelligence regarding drug dealings near the park. After verifying the information, a raid was conducted and the suspect was apprehended from the spot. During interrogation, the youth admitted his identity and involvement.
Officials stated that drug trafficking cases in Adityapur had seen a notable decline over the past six months. However, since the transfer of former station in-charge Rajeev Kumar Singh, reports suggest a resurgence in illegal narcotics activity. In recent weeks, several brown sugar peddlers have begun re-emerging in the area, raising concerns among law enforcement.
“The police are taking strict measures to clamp down on such activities. Drug-related businesses will not be allowed to thrive in this region,” said Tiwari, stressing the department’s zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics.
The operation is part of a broader campaign by Jharkhand Police to curb the rise of synthetic and chemical drugs in urban pockets.
