Uditvani, Jharkhand: In a significant verdict delivered on Friday, the Jamshedpur court acquitted notorious gangster Akhilesh Singh, Rahul Singh, and 11 others due to lack of evidence in the 2014 courtroom assault case.
The judgment was pronounced by Additional District Judge-4 Anandmani Tripathi.
Akhilesh Singh appeared via video conferencing from Dumka Central Jail during the proceedings. The incident, which took place on May 24, 2014, involved a man named Chabbu opening fire on Akhilesh Singh during a court appearance.
In retaliation, Rahul Singh, Kanhaiya Singh, and several others reportedly assaulted Chabbu, sparking widespread uproar in the city.
Initially, 14 individuals were named as accused by the police, including Akhilesh Singh and Prince Singh.
However, the court found insufficient evidence to convict 12 of them, leading to their acquittal. The verdict has drawn mixed reactions from the public and legal observers alike.
