Jamshedpur : A sense of fear and panic has taken over the residents of Amaltas City in Govindpur following the police encounter of notorious Uttar Pradesh gangster Anuj Kanojia.
After the incident last week, local residents met with the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to demand stronger security measures in the area.
Residents’ Concerns
P.N. Jha, one of the residents of the locality, recalled that the area was peaceful when he first built his house there. He alleged that a builder had initially set up an office on illegally acquired land, promising that once all plots were sold, the land would be converted into an open ground. However, before leaving, the builder sold this land as well, leading to an increase in anti-social activities in the vicinity.
Suspicious Activities Under Scrutiny
According to local residents, several individuals frequently visiting the area were involved in suspicious activities. However, since Anuj Kanojia’s encounter, the presence of such elements has noticeably decreased.
Demand for Action Against Illegal Encroachments
Residents believe that clearing illegally occupied land would help restore peace in the area. They have urged the police and administration to take strict action against such encroachments.
SSP’s Assurance
The SSP has assured the residents that steps will be taken to identify and clear illegal encroachments soon. He emphasized that the police are committed to ensuring the safety of the citizens and that no unlawful activities will be tolerated in the area.
