घटना की सूचना मिलते ही बिष्टुपुर थाना पुलिस तत्काल मौके पर पहुंची और पूरे इलाके की घेराबंदी कर जांच शुरू कर दी। पुलिस ने आसपास लगे सीसीटीवी कैमरों के फुटेज खंगालते हुए आरोपियों की पहचान करने का प्रयास किया। त्वरित कार्रवाई करते हुए पुलिस ने इस मामले में दो बदमाशों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया है। गिरफ्तार आरोपियों के पास से घटना में प्रयुक्त हथियार भी बरामद किया गया है।

पुलिस सूत्रों के अनुसार, इस फायरिंग कांड में ‘गोरा’ नामक एक कुख्यात बदमाश का नाम भी सामने आ रहा है। घटना को अंजाम देने के बाद सभी आरोपी मौके से फरार हो गए थे, जिसके बाद पुलिस ने कपाली इलाके में भी छापेमारी की।

फिलहाल फायरिंग के पीछे की वजह स्पष्ट नहीं हो पाई है। पुलिस पूरे मामले की गहराई से जांच कर रही है और अन्य आरोपियों की तलाश जारी है। इलाके में पुलिस की सतर्कता बढ़ा दी गई है ताकि दोबारा ऐसी घटना न हो सके।

घटना के बाद से ही शहर में आक्रोश का माहौल है। स्थानीय लोग लगातार मेंहदी कुमारी को न्याय दिलाने की मांग कर रहे हैं और पुलिस की धीमी कार्यशैली पर सवाल उठा रहे हैं। पीड़िता के भाई अंकित कुमार ने बताया कि पुलिस केवल आश्वासन दे रही है कि आरोपियों की तलाश जारी है, लेकिन ठोस कार्रवाई नहीं दिख रही।

अंकित के अनुसार, तीन दिन पहले बिष्टुपुर थाना प्रभारी ने जानकारी दी थी कि एक आरोपी बेगूसराय में छिपा हुआ है, बावजूद इसके अब तक उसकी गिरफ्तारी नहीं हो सकी है। वहीं, घटना में प्रयुक्त वाहन भी अब तक जब्त नहीं किया जा सका है, जिससे पुलिस की तत्परता पर संदेह गहराता जा रहा है।

गौरतलब है कि 6 अप्रैल की रात कुछ युवकों ने चाय दुकान पर हंगामा किया और विवाद के दौरान मेंहदी कुमारी पर गरम चाय फेंक दी, जिससे वह गंभीर रूप से झुलस गईं। इस मामले में अंकित कुमार ने अभय तिवारी, सन्नी मिश्रा, प्रेम कुमार समेत चार-पांच अज्ञात युवकों के खिलाफ बिष्टुपुर थाना में प्राथमिकी दर्ज कराई है।

शहरवासियों की नजर अब पुलिस की अगली कार्रवाई पर टिकी है कि आखिर कब सभी आरोपी गिरफ्त में आएंगे और पीड़िता को न्याय मिलेगा।
