UditVani, Jamshedpur : A distinct winter chill has begun to sweep across Jharkhand, with temperatures dipping noticeably in the absence of any major synoptic weather system.
Northerly to north-westerly winds dominating the lower tropospheric levels have strengthened the cooling trend, allowing the state to experience crisp, cold mornings over the past 24 hours.
The weather remained dry throughout Jharkhand, enabling rapid night-time radiational cooling. As a result, several districts recorded minimum temperatures flirting with the 10°C threshold.
The coldest pocket emerged in Gumla, where the mercury plunged to 8.8°C, marking one of the season’s lowest readings so far. Ranchi, Khunti, Lohardaga, Latehar and Bokaro also felt the intensifying nip, with early-morning temperatures hovering between 10°C and 11°C.
Daytime conditions remained mild and comfortable. Godda reported the state’s highest maximum temperature at 28.2°C, while most locations settled in the mid-20s under sunny skies and cool, steady winds.
With north-westerlies expected to persist, Jharkhand is bracing for even colder mornings ahead as early winter makes its presence felt more firmly across the region.
