UditVani, Jamshedpur:In a spirited display of community service and sportsmanship, the Jamshedpur Rotary Open Golf Tournament was held on Sunday under the theme “Swing for a Cause.”
The event was jointly organized by the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West and Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City to raise funds for the upgradation and continued support of the local blind school, Divyajyoti Netraheen Sansthan School.
The tournament was played in the Stableford format over 18 holes at the Golmuri Golf Course.
The event brought together golfers, philanthropists, and community leaders for a day of competitive play while raising awareness for the needs of visually impaired students.
Chief guest Arjun Munda inaugurated the tournament with a ceremonial cake-cutting followed by a symbolic release of balloons to mark the opening.
In his remarks, he commended the Rotary clubs for their commitment to inclusive education and encouraged the community to continue supporting institutions that serve children with special needs.
One of the highlights of the event was a blindfolded putting experience arranged for the participating golfers.
By attempting short putts while blindfolded, players experienced firsthand the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals, fostering deeper empathy and reinforcing the tournament’s purpose beyond fundraising.
Organizers announced that the proceeds from the tournament will be used for infrastructure upgrades, teaching aids, and operational support at the beneficiary school.
The collaborative initiative reflected Rotary’s guiding principle of “Service Above Self,” successfully combining sport with a meaningful social cause.
The tournament concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and a vote of thanks to sponsors, volunteers, and participants whose support will contribute to improving the education and well-being of visually impaired children in the community.
