Uditvani, Ranchi: Hemant Soren, who was summoned by the ED today at their Ranchi office in connection with the Prevention of Money Laundering case pertaining to illegal mining and extortion is likely to skip the questioning.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Soren is to attend a gathering in Chhattisgarh.
“There was a cheque signed by Mr Soren which was found by ED during the recent raid. He also allegedly misused his position and granted a lease,” the sources said.
The ED had recently filed a charge sheet before a Special Ranchi court against Pankaj Mishra, Bachhu Yadav and Prem Prakash who said to be close to Hemant Soren. The court has already taken the cognizance of the charge sheet.The accused are presently in judicial custody.
The ED initiated the money laundering investigation on the basis of the FIR registered by the Barharwa Police Station, Sahebganj District, Jharkhand under various sections of IPC, against Mishra and others.
According to the 15-day program released by the CM Office, CM Hemant Soren is to attend various programs at Palamu, Ramgarh, Jamshedpur, Bokaro and Pakur between November 4th-9th. There will be a cabinet meeting on November 10th and a special session of the assembly on November 11th. In this session, the government present pass a bill fixing 1932 as the base year to decide one’s domicile status in the state.
