UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jharkhand continued to witness clear and dry conditions on Wednesday even as a Western Disturbance hovered over northern parts of the country.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the system is currently manifesting as a trough in the middle tropospheric westerlies, positioned around 5.8 km above mean sea level along longitude 81°E, north of latitude 23°N.
Despite its presence, the weather system had little to no influence over Jharkhand, with atmospheric stability keeping skies clear and preventing any cloud formation or rainfall across the state.
The dry spell extended into yet another day, but the absence of cloud cover supported rapid radiational cooling, causing a dip in nighttime temperatures. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Gumla , where the mercury dropped to 5.3°C, marking one of the season’s coldest readings.
Early mornings across several districts saw a noticeable chill, followed by mild and comfortable daytime conditions.
In contrast to the cold nights, parts of the state experienced warm afternoons. Chaibasa registered the highest maximum temperature at 27.8°C, reflecting the typical winter pattern of sharp day–night temperature contrasts under clear skies.
With the Western Disturbance confined to higher latitudes and showing minimal impact on eastern India, the IMD has indicated that no significant weather changes are expected in Jharkhand in the immediate future.
Cold nights and pleasant afternoons are likely to persist as winter gradually tightens its grip.
