Jamshedpur : Jharkhand is set to experience a spell of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over the coming days, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Ranchi office.
Isolated areas across the state — excluding the north-western districts — are likely to witness thunderstorm activity with wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph on April 9.
The intensity is expected to rise on April 10 and 11, with most parts of the state bracing for gusty winds between 40-50 kmph. Even the usually spared north-western districts may experience winds of 30-40 kmph during this period.
By April 12, the thunderstorm activity is projected to weaken, though winds of 30-40 kmph may still be observed in isolated locations, excluding north-western Jharkhand.
This spell of turbulent weather is being driven by several active systems :
- A trough extending from southeast Uttar Pradesh to North Bangladesh across Bihar at an altitude of 0.9 Km above mean sea level.
- Another trough stretching from west Rajasthan to west Vidarbha, reaching up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level.
- A well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal, accompanied by a cyclonic circulation at mid-tropospheric levels.
This system is expected to move north-northwestwards and later recurve north-northeastwards before weakening over the central Bay.
These evolving weather systems will continue to impact Jharkhand’s weather patterns.
Residents are advised to stay vigilant and follow regular updates from the meteorological department.
