UditVani, Jamshedpur : A swift and coordinated operation by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Tatanagar Railway Station has led to the rescue of 13 minors—12 girls and one boy—from an alleged human trafficking attempt. The action was taken following credible intelligence received during an ongoing anti-trafficking drive across the Chakradharpur Division, overseen by Senior Commandant P. Shankar Kutty.
During routine surveillance, the RPF’s flying squad noticed suspicious movement and intercepted two men—identified as Sunil Chatomba and Jambira Chatomba of Hat Gamharia. On questioning, it emerged that the duo was planning to transport the minors outside Jharkhand for illegal labour.
The rescued children, hailing from West Singhbhum and nearby regions, have been shifted to a safe shelter and are undergoing counselling. Initial statements suggest they were enticed with false promises of lucrative work opportunities.
Both accused traffickers have been handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Tatanagar for further investigation. The operation, conducted under the RPF’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), marks a significant strike against trafficking networks active in the region.
