Jamshedpur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a spell of hot and humid weather conditions set to impact the north-eastern parts of Jharkhand over the next few days, with a potential heat wave looming later this week.
According to the latest bulletin, isolated places in the region, including areas around Jamshedpur and its adjoining districts, are likely to experience oppressive humidity and elevated temperatures on April 23. The weather is expected to turn even more intense with the possibility of heat wave conditions developing on April 25.
A gradual rise in maximum daytime temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is anticipated from April 22 to April 24. After this period, no significant temperature fluctuations are expected, suggesting sustained hot conditions.
Adding to the heat dynamics is a prevailing east-west trough extending from northwest Rajasthan to eastern Bangladesh. This weather system runs through Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, northeast Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal at around 0.9 km above mean sea level. The trough is influencing the broader regional weather pattern, although the skies are forecast to remain mostly clear with dry conditions prevailing during this time.
Authorities have urged residents, especially those in the vulnerable north-eastern belt of the state, to take necessary precautions such as staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and monitoring weather updates regularly.
As summer intensifies, health experts and the weather department alike stress the importance of heat safety measures to minimize the risk of heat-related illnesses.
