Jamshedpur : In a significant stride toward modernizing railway infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated three newly revamped railway stations in Jharkhand via video conferencing.
The stations—Govindpur Road, Rajmahal, and Shankarpur—have been redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with a focus on passenger convenience and modern amenities.
Govindpur Road Station: A Modern Travel Hub on the Hatia-Rourkela Line
Upgraded at a cost of Rs 6.65 crore, the Govindpur Road station now offers a seamless travel experience with a host of new features:
Four railway lines
Newly constructed station building
Spacious waiting rooms
Advanced ticketing counters
Elevated platforms with protective sheds
Foot overbridge, lifts, and ramps for easy access
Enhanced lighting for better visibility and safety
Rajmahal Station: Redefining Travel in Eastern Railway
Located in the Malda division of Eastern Railway, the Rajmahal station has undergone a Rs 7.03 crore transformation. Highlights include:
Striking architectural design and ambient lighting
Capacity to accommodate longer trains
Improved pedestrian pathways
Renovated waiting lounges
Accessible ramps and dedicated toilets for differently-abled passengers
Indoor video displays, stylish signages, and artistic sculptures
Shankarpur Station: The Rail Gateway to AIIMS Deoghar
Strategically situated on the Jasidih-Madhupur line, the Shankarpur station now serves as the closest railhead to AIIMS Deoghar. Developed at a cost of Rs 7.7 crore, the station features:
Covered passenger shelters
Digital illuminated signboards
Upgraded platforms with essential amenities
A newly constructed underpass for safe crossing
Modern ticket counters and waiting halls
Enhanced parking facilities
Renovated foot overbridge
