Jamshedpur: The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a weather alert for Jharkhand, forecasting thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph at isolated locations.
The warning is in effect for today, May 26, and will remain in place on May 30 and May 31.
According to the latest updates, an upper air trough extends from the east-central Arabian Sea to north Odisha, passing through central Maharashtra, north Telangana, and south Chhattisgarh. The trough lies between 1.5 and 4.6 km above mean sea level and tilts southward with height.
Additionally, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the west-central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal around May 27. This development is expected to influence the regional weather pattern, possibly triggering increased rainfall and wind activity over the next few days.
Residents are advised to stay alert, especially in vulnerable areas, and follow the latest advisories from local authorities.
