
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Police have arrested three accused in connection with an attempt to run over an on-duty police constable with a car in Jamshedpur, while one accused is still absconding.
The incident occurred around midnight on January 3 near the Toll Bridge roundabout under Kadma police station area.
The injured constable, Hiralal Mahto, was on routine duty when the accused allegedly tried to kill him by hitting him with a speeding car.
He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable.
Following the incident, a special investigation team was formed under the leadership of the City SP.
Based on CCTV footage, technical evidence and human intelligence, police arrested Amandeep Singh, Ankit Mukhi and Aditya Mukhi, all residents of Jamshedpur in East Singhbhum district.
The white Maruti Suzuki Dzire used in the crime has also been seized.
During interrogation, the arrested accused reportedly confessed to the crime, stating they were angry with the police and planned the attack deliberately.
Police said raids are on to arrest the fourth accused, who is currently on the run.
