Jamshedpur : In a major push to attract global investments and promote Jharkhand as a business-friendly destination, chief minister Hemant Soren, currently on an official visit to Spain and Sweden, unveiled a series of high-profile engagements and proposals aimed at transforming the state’s industrial and sports ecosystem.
A key highlight of the visit was the proposal from RCD Espanyol Football Club to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Jharkhand for training football coaches from the state.
This strategic partnership seeks to harness Barcelona’s world-class sports infrastructure and elevate football standards in Jharkhand.
In parallel, the chief minister led a high-level delegation in Barcelona to engage with Indian-origin business leaders and experts across sectors like Clean Energy, Deep-Tech, Startup Mentorship, MedTech, Bio-Pharma, Sports Marketing, and more.
The discussions centered on fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in Jharkhand, with a strong interest shown in building a dynamic startup ecosystem in the state.
Another milestone during the visit was a meeting with Dušan Lichardus, CEO and Co-founder of Tesla Group A.S., who proposed setting up a GIGA Factory in Jharkhand.
This facility would focus on assembling commercial and industrial battery storage systems, aligning with the state’s goal to strengthen its renewable energy infrastructure.
The delegation also advocated for value-added food processing projects, particularly involving jackfruit and tomatoes, and explored avenues in traditional medicine (Hodopathy), R&D, and innovation licensing across Pharma, Biotech, and MedTech sectors.
Emphasizing the need for stronger branding of Jharkhand among Spanish businesses, the delegation proposed a sustained promotional campaign around Investment, Tourism, and Trade to showcase the state’s potential as a key destination.
Chief minister Soren assured the business community of continuous engagement, policy support, and fast-tracked implementation mechanisms, reinforcing Jharkhand’s impressive strides in the Ease of Doing Business.
“Come, Invest, Grow – Jharkhand is Ready for Business,” the chief minister declared, inviting global partners to explore the state’s vast opportunities.
