
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jharkhand witnessed a spell of above-normal daytime temperatures and comparatively cool nights on Wednesday, with no rainfall reported anywhere in the state, according to the Realised Weather Report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre, Ranchi.
Day Temperatures Rise Above Normal
Several key cities recorded maximum temperatures higher than seasonal averages.
Ranchi registered a maximum of 26.6°C, which is 1.7°C above normal, while the minimum stood at 13.4°C, also 1.4°C above normal.
Jamshedpur turned noticeably warmer, touching 30.1°C, a significant 2.5°C above normal, with a minimum temperature of 15.7°C.
Bokaro (Thermal) reported 29.1°C, showing a sharp 4.3°C positive departure, indicating unusually warm conditions for early February.
Daltonganj recorded a maximum of 27.6°C, close to normal, while the night temperature dipped to 11.1°C.
The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at Chaibasa (PTO) at 31.8°C, making it the hottest location of the day.
Cold Nights in Pockets
Despite warmer days, nights remained cool in several districts.
Gumla AWS recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 9.7°C, closely followed by Hazaribagh AWS, which also dipped to 9.7°C.
Ranchi city stations showed mild variations, with Hinoo recording 13.4°C minimum, while Ranchi AMFU dipped to 9.8°C.
Automated Weather Stations Highlight Regional Variations
Data from Automated Weather Stations (AWS) revealed mixed trends:
Saraikela AWS matched Chaibasa with a maximum of 31.8°C, showing a strong warming trend.
Latehar remained relatively cooler with a maximum of 22.9°C.
Hazaribagh AWS recorded one of the lowest maximums at 24.8°C, along with a sharp fall in night temperature by 3.1°C over the last 24 hours.
No Rainfall, Reduced Visibility
The state experienced completely dry weather, with nil rainfall recorded across all stations during the past 24 hours.
However, visibility dropped to 2000 metres in Ranchi, the lowest reported in the state, indicating lingering morning haze or shallow fog conditions.
Overall Weather Outlook
The IMD data suggests that Jharkhand is currently experiencing a transition phase, marked by rising daytime temperatures, cool to mild nights, and dry conditions.
Such patterns are typical as winter gradually weakens, though occasional temperature fluctuations are expected in the coming days.
Residents are advised to remain cautious during early morning hours due to reduced visibility and continue taking precautions against temperature variations between day and night.
