
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jharkhand witnessed a marked drop in temperatures on Friday, with several districts experiencing cold wave conditions.
According to the IMD Ranchi report issued at 10AM, Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 23.3°C and a minimum of 8.3°C, both below normal.
Jamshedpur logged a minimum of 11.6°C, while Bokaro-Thermal stood out with a sharp 8.0°C, registering a significant –5.0°C departure from normal — indicating a cold wave.
The lowest temperature was reported from Gumla AWS at 4.7°C, signalling intense chill in central and western parts of the state.
Dry north-westerly winds dominated Jharkhand’s lower tropospheric levels and no significant synoptic system prevailed, leading to clear skies and rapid night cooling. Fog was reported in Deoghar, where visibility dropped to 500 meters.
The IMD has advised residents to take precautions as the cold spell is expected to persist.
