
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Chilly winter conditions prevailed across Jharkhand on Thursday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reporting cold wave conditions in parts of the state and dense fog disrupting early morning visibility in Deoghar.
Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 22.6°C, marginally below normal, while the minimum stood at 10.6°C, slightly above the seasonal average.
Jamshedpur experienced a warmer day with the mercury touching 26°C, though nights remained cold at 10.4°C.
Daltonganj reported a daytime high of 25.1°C and a minimum of 8.1°C, reflecting the steady winter chill.
Chaibasa was the warmest place in the state, registering the highest maximum temperature of 27.4°C.
At the other extreme, Gumla shivered through the coldest night as the temperature dropped sharply to 4.0°C, prompting IMD to confirm cold wave conditions there.
Dense fog enveloped Deoghar during the early hours, reducing visibility to just 500 metres.
No rainfall was recorded anywhere in Jharkhand over the past 24 hours, keeping conditions dry but cold.
Data from Automated Weather Stations indicated near-freezing nights across several districts, with minimum temperatures dipping to 7.2°C in Hazaribagh, 7.9°C in Latehar, 8.2°C in Lohardaga and 7.6°C in Pakur.
The IMD has urged people to remain cautious during early morning and late-night hours, as cold weather conditions are expected to continue across the state in the coming days.
