
UditVani, Jamshedpur: Cold weather conditions continued to grip large parts of Jharkhand on Monday, with temperatures staying well below normal at several locations and dense fog severely affecting visibility, according to the latest realised weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre, Ranchi.
Daltonganj witnessed the harshest conditions, where a severe cold day was reported. The city recorded a maximum temperature of just 18.5°C, around 7°C below normal, while the minimum dipped to 6.5°C. Cold day conditions were also observed at Bokaro Thermal and Chaibasa.
Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 23.6°C, marginally above normal, while the minimum settled at 9.2°C. Jamshedpur remained cooler during the day, with the maximum at 21.5°C—nearly 5°C below normal—and a minimum temperature of 11.0°C. The lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Ranchi AMFU at 5.4°C.
Jagannathpur AWS in West Singhbhum registered the highest maximum temperature in the state at 24.1°C. No rainfall was reported from any district across Jharkhand during the past 24 hours.
Dense to moderate fog was reported at several places including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Daltonganj and Deoghar.
The lowest visibility was recorded at AMS Deoghar, where it dropped to just 200 metres, causing difficulties for early morning commuters.
IMD officials advised people to remain cautious during early morning and late-night hours due to low temperatures and reduced visibility, as cold conditions are expected to persist across the state in the coming days.
