UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jamshedpur will witness special traffic restrictions for two consecutive days as the district administration has imposed a temporary ban on the movement of heavy vehicles in the city during the Makar Sankranti and Tusu Parab festivities.
The official order, issued by the East Singhbhum administration, aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the festival period, when large crowds are expected on the roads.
According to the directive, on January 14, Wednesday all categories of heavy vehicles will be prohibited from entering and operating within the Jamshedpur city limits from 4:00 am to 11:00 pm.
The same restriction will again be enforced on January 15, Thursday from 4:00 am to 11:00 pm.
The ban applies to all heavy vehicles, with buses being exempted from the order.
The notification clearly states that during these hours, no heavy transport vehicles such as trucks, dumpers, trailers and other similar carriers will be allowed to ply on city roads.
The decision has been taken keeping in view the massive movement of people during Makar Sankranti and Tusu, when devotees travel to riverbanks and other religious and cultural sites across the city.
The order has been jointly signed by the Deputy Commissioner, East Singhbhum, the Senior Superintendent of Police, and the Superintendent of Police (Traffic), giving it full administrative and law-enforcement backing.
All police stations, traffic officials, transport authorities and other concerned departments have been directed to strictly implement the restrictions and ensure compliance on the ground.
The district police have been instructed to inform the public, transporters and vehicle owners in advance and take all necessary steps to prevent violations.
Traffic personnel will be deployed at key entry and exit points of the city to stop heavy vehicles from entering during the restricted hours.
The administration has appealed to transport operators and the general public to cooperate with the arrangements in the larger interest of safety and smooth traffic management during the festive days.
Authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the order.
With thousands expected to step out to celebrate the harvest festival, the temporary ban on heavy vehicles is expected to reduce congestion, prevent accidents and allow citizens to observe Makar Sankranti and Tusu festival in a safe and peaceful manner.
