UditVani, Jamshedpur : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for Jharkhand, warning of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph at isolated locations across the state till September 7.
A well-marked low-pressure area currently lies over the northwest Bay of Bengal, off the north Odisha coast. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and is tilting southwestwards with height.
According to the IMD, the system is expected to move west-northwestwards across north Odisha, adjoining Jharkhand, and north Chhattisgarh in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the monsoon trough at mean sea level runs through Bikaner, Jaipur, Damoh, Pendra Road, Sambalpur, and the center of the low-pressure system, before extending southeastwards into the east-central Bay of Bengal.
The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has urged residents to remain cautious and take necessary precautions against lightning strikes and strong winds during this period.
