
UditVani, Jamshedpur : To accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the July travel season, South Eastern Railway has announced the operation of weekly special trains between Durg and Patna.
The to-and-fro trains are being introduced to ease the load on regular services and offer additional travel options during the high-demand period.
Train Details and Timings
The 08797/08798 Durg–Patna–Durg Special trains will operate as per the following schedule:
Train No. 08797 Durg–Patna Special
Departure: Every Monday from Durg at 1:15 pm
Journey Dates: July 7 to July 28, 2025
Arrival: Patna at 3:30 pm the next day (Tuesday)
Train No. 08798 Patna–Durg Special
Departure: Every Tuesday from Patna at 5:15 pm
Journey Dates: July 8 to July 29, 2025
Arrival: Durg at 10:35 pm the following day (Wednesday)
Stoppages En Route
The special trains will halt at the following major stations falling under South Eastern Railway jurisdiction:
* Jharsuguda
* Rourkela
* Hatia
* Ranchi
* Muri
* Bokaro Steel City
These stops are expected to benefit a wide range of passengers including students, workers, business travelers, and pilgrims.
Reason for Special Services
With increased passenger movement during the Shravani Mela, academic admissions, and the return of vacationers and migrant workers, the Durg–Patna route witnesses heavy demand every year in July.
The introduction of these special trains is aimed at reducing congestion, ensuring smoother journeys, and offering flexibility in travel plans.

Bookings for these special trains are now open through the IRCTC website and railway reservation counters.
Coaches will include a mix of AC 3-tier, Sleeper Class, and General compartments.
Passengers are advised to book early and carry valid ID proof during the journey.
