
UditVani, Jamshedpur : National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur, has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Electrotherm (India) Limited to drive collaborative innovation in advanced materials and metallurgical technologies.
The partnership focuses on accelerating R&D in electrical steels, new alloy systems, corrosion-resistant and functional coatings, and critical import-substitution materials vital for India’s manufacturing and strategic sectors. The agreement also outlines joint laboratory and pilot-scale trials, comprehensive testing and validation, exchange of technical expertise, and exploration of novel materials and processes with industrial potential.
Senior officials from both organisations noted that the collaboration will significantly bolster India’s pursuit of technological self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, delivering science-led solutions for emerging industrial challenges.
Valid for an initial term of three years, the MoU establishes a framework for targeted research programmes, plant-level demonstrations, and future commercialization of innovative metallurgical products and technologies.
