Jamshedpur : In a significant operation, officers from Mumbai’s Vikhroli police station, alongwith accompanying civic authorities, conducted a surprise inspection at the Vikhroli market around 11 am today.
The inspection led to the detention of 13 individuals suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals operating as hawkers.
During the verification process, it was found that all the detained individuals were in possession of Aadhaar cards displaying identical birth dates — January 1st — albeit different years.
Additionally, each Aadhaar card listed Sahebganj, Jharkhand as the address, raising serious concerns regarding the authenticity of these identity documents.
The names and recorded birth dates of the detainees are as follows:
Jiyaul Shekh – 01/01/1980
Aiyub Shekh – 01/01/1976
Manorul Shekh – 01/01/1995
Saim Shekh – 01/01/2003
Naim Shekh – 01/01/2003
Samoun Shekh – 01/01/2003
Rafikul Shekh – 01/01/1988
Jahangir Shekh – 01/01/2007
Nasima Bibi – 01/01/1983
Mainuddin Shekh – 01/01/2000
Bariul Shekh – 01/01/2003
Halim Shekh – 01/01/2006
Kasud Shekh – 01/01/2004
Following their detention, the Vikhroli police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that the individuals may have illegally entered India and obtained forged identification documents to facilitate their stay and employment.
Officials suspect the existence of an organized network involved in the creation and distribution of counterfeit documents.
Senior police officials have stated that appropriate legal action will be taken against those found guilty, including the possible invocation of relevant sections under the Foreigners Act and the Indian Penal Code for possession of forged documents and illegal stay.
Further investigations are on to identify the source of the forged documents and to trace any larger networks aiding such activities.
