Jamshedpur : The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a weather alert forecasting widespread thundershowers and gusty winds across Jharkhand from May 21 to May 24.
The alerts warn of potentially hazardous weather conditions affecting various regions of the state.
Forecast at a Glance:
May 21: Thunderstorms and lightning are likely at isolated places, excluding southern Jharkhand. Gusty winds reaching 50–60 kmph are expected, with slightly lower speeds (40–50 kmph) in the south. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in parts of northeastern Jharkhand.
May 22: Thunderstorm activity is set to impact the entire state, accompanied by gusty winds up to 50–60 kmph at isolated locations.
May 23–24: Thunderstorms will persist, with wind speeds ranging between 40–50 kmph across most regions. The northeastern districts may experience comparatively milder gusts of 30–40 kmph.
The weather disturbance stems from an east-west trough extending from a cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan to north Bangladesh.
This trough cuts across north Rajasthan, south Haryana, south Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal at around 1.5 Km above mean sea level.
Residents are urged to monitor local weather updates and exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to heavy rainfall and strong winds.
