UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jharkhand is in for a stormy stretch as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for the next four days, warning of volatile weather conditions including thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, and even hailstorms in some areas.
Here’s what to expect:
April 8: Thunderstorms paired with lightning and gusty winds clocking 30–40 km/h are likely to hit many parts of the state, with the exception of southwestern Jharkhand.
April 9: Southern, central, and northeastern regions are set to experience similar stormy conditions.
April 10: The weather could turn more severe, especially in east-central and north-central Jharkhand, where hailstorms are likely alongside thunderstorms and winds gusting up to 50 km/h. Other regions may also see turbulent skies with varying wind speeds.
April 11: The entire state, except for the northwest, is expected to be under the grip of thunderstorms and stronger winds ranging between 40–50 km/h. The northwest may see slightly gentler gusts around 30–40 km/h.
What’s causing the chaos?
Meteorologists point to an upper air cyclonic circulation hovering over northeast Jharkhand and neighboring areas, in tandem with a trough stretching from East Bihar to North Telangana.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure zone brewing over the central south Bay of Bengal may also shift northward, further impacting local weather.
Residents are urged to remain cautious and follow safety advisories during this period of heightened weather activity.
