The weather office has forecast thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 50-60 Kmph at isolated places across the state on May 27 and 28. However, northwestern parts of Jharkhand are expected to remain relatively less affected during this period.

From May 29 to 30, thunderstorm activity with gusty winds of 40-50 Kmph is likely mainly over the northwestern districts of the state. Similar weather conditions are expected to prevail again across Jharkhand between May 31 and June 2.

Meteorologists said the unstable weather conditions are being triggered by an active trough system extending from northwest Uttar Pradesh to south coastal Odisha. The trough passes through cyclonic circulations over central Uttar Pradesh, northeast Madhya Pradesh and northwest Odisha at about 0.9 Km above mean sea level.

Another north-south trough extending from north Bihar to south Telangana via Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh at 1.5 Km above mean sea level is also contributing to enhanced moisture flow and atmospheric instability over the region. The Meteorological Centre has advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity and avoid open areas, tall trees and electric poles during lightning strikes.

गर्मी के बढ़ते प्रभाव को देखते हुए स्वास्थ्य विभाग और प्रशासन ने लोगों को सतर्क रहने की सलाह दी है। विशेष रूप से बच्चों, बुजुर्गों और बीमार लोगों को दोपहर के समय घर से बाहर निकलने से बचने की अपील की गई है।

डॉक्टरों के अनुसार, हीटवेव के दौरान शरीर में पानी की कमी, चक्कर आना और थकावट जैसी समस्याएं बढ़ सकती हैं। ऐसे में लोगों को अधिक से अधिक पानी पीने, हल्के कपड़े पहनने और धूप से बचाव करने की सलाह दी गई है।

मौसम विभाग ने संकेत दिया है कि यदि तापमान में इसी तरह वृद्धि जारी रही, तो आने वाले दिनों में स्थिति और गंभीर हो सकती है। ऐसे में प्रशासन भी आवश्यक कदम उठाने की तैयारी में जुट गया है।

Any lingering thunderstorm activity is expected to subside quickly, making way for a steady rise in temperature.

Early signs of intensifying heat are already emerging, with heatwave conditions likely to develop in isolated parts of north-western Jharkhand by April 19.

The impact is expected to widen by April 20, extending to select pockets of both north-western and south-eastern regions, signaling a gradual tightening of summer’s grip.

The current weather pattern is shaped by an east-west trough stretching from southeast Rajasthan to Manipur, cutting across a cyclonic circulation over northeast Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Bangladesh, and southeast Assam at about 1.5 km above mean sea level.

However, despite this system, dry weather has largely prevailed across the state in recent hours.

Temperature extremes underline the seasonal shift, with Daltonganj recording a high of 42.6°C, while Gumla registered a comparatively cooler minimum of 19.1°C, highlighting the growing contrast between day and night temperatures as summer advances.
