The National Games, regarded as one of the highest levels of sports competition in the country, were held with a prestige akin to the Olympics.
This year, Modern Pentathlon was introduced as a new event, and Tannu Kumari’s stellar performance has not only earned her accolades but also brought recognition to the state of Jharkhand.
The Youth Development Centre, enabled by Tata Steel Foundation, is committed to boosting and encouraging grassroots athletes and sportspersons by providing them with a platform to hone their skills and participate in national and international tournaments.
Through the Foundation’s Grassroots Sports Programme, sporting talents are developed and nurtured across operational locations, tapping into last-mile individuals and bridging the accessibility gap.
So far, in its efforts to promote this discipline, Tata Steel Foundation has established eight sports training centers under the Jharia Division that cater to kids between the ages of 8 and 17, providing them with opportunities to train and represent various levels.
Currently, there are nearly 340 candidates across these eight centres, training to pursue their passion and shine at global and national tournaments.
