UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jamshedpur FC hit the ground running at the Shillong Sports Association Ground as they completed their first training session ahead of the crucial ISL Playoff clash against NorthEast United FC on March 30.
The team, has quickly adapted to the conditions in Shillong and will be having another training session before the much-anticipated match.
With NorthEast United having defeated Jamshedpur both home and away this season, the squad is aware of the challenge ahead.
Defender Stephen Eze emphasized the importance of defensive discipline, stating, “NorthEast United has been a strong team this season, and we respect them, but we are fully prepared for this game. We have worked on our structure, our positioning, and how to handle their attacking threats.
The key will be staying compact, disciplined, and making sure we don’t allow them space in dangerous areas. We know what went wrong in the previous matches, and we have worked on fixing those mistakes.”
Jamshedpur FC is also preparing to adjust to the Shillong pitch, which presents different conditions from their home ground.
Eze acknowledged the challenge but remained confident: “Shillong presents a different challenge with the weather and the pitch conditions, but as professionals, we adapt. We have played in tough conditions before, and we are training here to get used to the surface. Communication in defense will be crucial, and we will be ready for whatever challenge comes our way, ” he said.
The attacking unit also understands the importance of taking control early in the match. Winger Ritwik Das highlighted the team’s aggressive approach, saying, “Attacking football is our identity, and we will not change that. The plan is to take control from the start and put them under pressure. If we can be clinical and convert our chances early, it will shift the momentum in our favor. We have talented players who can break defenses, and our focus is on making the right movements and finishing strongly in the final third.”
After a week-long break following the league stage, Jamshedpur FC has regrouped with renewed determination. Midfielder Rei Tachikawa spoke about the squad’s mindset, stating, “The squad is very motivated. We know the last two matches didn’t go our way, but we have left that behind. Everyone is focused on this one game, and we are ready to give everything. The mood in the camp is positive, and we are pushing each other in training. This is the moment we have worked for all season, and we are determined to prove ourselves.”
With two more days of training left before the high-stakes encounter, the team is putting in the hard yards to fine-tune their strategies. Head Coach Khalid Jamil and his staff are ensuring that every player is physically and mentally prepared to battle for a place in the semi-finals.
Jamshedpur FC will continue their preparations in Shillong, with the players focused on making a strong statement and proving themselves on the playoff stage.
