UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jamshedpur FC’s hero, Albino Gomes, admitted that he never expected their quarterfinal clash against NorthEast United FC to go to a penalty shootout. After a goalless draw in regulation time, Jamshedpur ultimately triumphed 5-4 in the shootout to secure a place in the semifinals of the Kalinga Super Cup, where they will face Mumbai City FC on April 30.
Reflecting on the intense match, Albino said, “Honestly, I never thought the game would go to penalties. We were playing good football, creating chances, and I believed we could score at any moment. But that’s football — anything can happen.”
Albino, who made two crucial saves during regular time, remained calm during the penalty shootout. Speaking about the pressure of the shootout, he said, “Penalty shootouts are always tense because you never know which way they will go. I stayed completely focused on the ball and kept a clear mind. It’s all about being prepared for every tiny opportunity that can make a difference.”
Having played a key role in helping Jamshedpur FC reach their third consecutive Super Cup semifinal, Albino expressed pride in being part of the team’s journey. He said, “It’s a great honor for me to be part of this team. It feels really good that we’ve reached the semifinals again. We will continue to give our best in the upcoming matches and aim for a positive result.”
Jamshedpur FC now shifts its focus to the semifinal clash against Mumbai City FC.
