UditVani, New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over Rs 12,200 crore in Delhi on Sunday, focusing on regional connectivity and the ease of travel.As part of the event, the Prime Minister also undertook a ride on the Namo Bharat Train, traveling from Sahibabad Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Station to New Ashok Nagar RRTS Station.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister highlighted that Delhi-NCR has received a significant gift from the Government of India, marking a further expansion of India’s urban mobility. Recalling his earlier ride on the Namo Bharat train, PM Modi noted that it showcases the future of public transport in India’s developed cities. He shared his interactions with many enthusiastic youngsters, noting their joy and hope for a brighter future. The Prime Minister expressed optimism that once the Namo Bharat project is completed, there will be a noticeable improvement in traffic on the Delhi-Meerut route. He congratulated the people of Delhi-NCR for these advancements.
Prime Minister Modi remarked that Over the past decade, India has risen to become the third-largest metro network globally. He also noted the ongoing expansion of the Delhi Metro, with two new routes being inaugurated. He pointed out that Haryana’s connectivity with the metro network has expanded beyond Gurgaon, with the Rithala-Narela-Kundli corridor becoming one of the largest sections of the Delhi Metro. This extension will strengthen connectivity between key industrial centers in Delhi and Haryana, easing commuting for residents.
In his address, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s unwavering focus on infrastructure development. He highlighted the sharp increase in infrastructure spending, from Rs. 2 lakh crore a decade ago to over Rs 11 lakh crore now. He also noted the emergence of expressways from Delhi to various cities and the development of industrial corridors. A large multi-modal logistics hub is being created in Delhi-NCR, with two freight corridors converging in the region. These efforts, he stated, are contributing to the country’s economic growth and generating employment opportunities, especially for the youth.
Additionally, the Prime Minister underscored the government’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility for all, particularly the economically disadvantaged. He praised the promotion of traditional Indian medicine systems, including AYUSH and Ayurveda, which have expanded to over 100 countries. He highlighted the establishment of the first World Health Organization (WHO) institution related to traditional medicine in India and the recent inauguration of the second phase of the All India Institute of Ayurveda. Modi also laid the foundation stone for the Central Ayurveda Research Institute in Delhi, expressing his special congratulations to the people of the region.
The Prime Minister concluded by expressing his belief that India has immense potential to become the world’s health and wellness capital. He anticipates that, along with the “Make in India” initiative, “Heal in India” will soon become a global mantra. To facilitate foreign citizens seeking AYUSH treatments in India, a special AYUSH visa facility has been introduced, benefiting hundreds of foreign nationals. PM Modi expressed confidence that these efforts will lead to new heights of development for Delhi.
