UditVani, Jamshedpur: A low pressure trough stretched between Jharkhand and Odisha resulted in rain at several places across the state today.
Ranchi and several other places in southern and central Jharkhand experienced light rain.
Some places witnessed thunder and lightning early in the morning.
IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre had issued nowcast ( Short- term forecast) of rain and thundershowers activity in Ranchi and several other places including Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Ramgarh, Simdega, Khunti and Seraikela – Kharsawan.
The Met department also issued an alert of isolated hail over southern and central parts of the state today.
Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied with gusty wind (max wind speed: 40-50 kmph) likely at isolated places
over south-eastern and adjoining Central parts of the state.
The Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over Jammu at
3.1 Km above mean sea level persists.
Another Western Disturbance as a trough in lower tropospheric level with its axis at
3.1 Km above mean sea level now runs roughly along Long. 60°E to the north of Lat.
30°N.
The trough from Jharkhand to south Odisha was today running from Gangetic West Bengal to Telangana at 0.9 Km above mean sea level.
Weathermen said rain and thundershowers activity would continue to take place later this week.
