Uditvani, Jamshedpur: Panic gripped the Kadma police station area on Wednesday morning after an attempted chain snatching incident near the Brahmarshi Samaj. Two youths on a scooter tried to snatch a chain from a woman walking along the road.
Hearing the woman’s screams, locals quickly rushed to the spot. They managed to catch one of the fleeing youths and gave him a beating before handing him over to the police.
His accomplice, however, managed to escape by taking advantage of the chaos.
The police have seized the scooter from the scene and are currently searching for the absconding accused. The arrested youth is being interrogated for further information.
The incident has sparked anger among local residents, who are demanding increased patrolling in the area and strict action against anti-social elements.
Police officials have assured a thorough investigation and expressed confidence in apprehending the second suspect soon.
