For the first time on the occasion of National Voter’s Day, Jharkhand received the National Award of Best Performing State for its excellent performance in elections.
President Droupadi Murmu honoured the Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar at the national level programme organised on National Voter’s Day held in Zorawar Auditorium, Manekshaw Center, New Delhi today.
The Chief Electoral Officer thanked all the voters of the state, all the BLOs engaged in election work, all the polling personnel, police officers, security forces personnel, political parties and media friends for discharging their duties during the election.
He said that the credit for the free, fair and peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections 2024 goes to all the stakeholders of the election work.
” Today the state has achieved this due to the combined efforts of all of us, ” he commented.
Notably, several innovations were done in the state under the leadership of Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar in the Lok Sabha and state assembly polls held last year.
An attempt was made to make the voter list integrated, inclusive and with zero errors under Jharkhand in the voter list revision.
Under this, the BLO verified the voters of each house several times and pasted stickers on their houses.
Special campaigns were run for PVTG voters to add them to the voter list. At the same time, arrangements were made for assured minimum facilities at the polling stations for the voters like electricity, water, toilets, wheelchairs and ramps for Divyang and senior voters etc.
Along with the construction of polling stations in their villages for the voters of remote areas, vehicles were also arranged for polling stations more than 2 Kms away.
Along with this, there were many N
naxal-affected areas where voters voted peacefully for the first time these elections.
For smooth voting, vehicles were used for polling work by disrupting the general traffic as little as possible through the vehicle management system.
For the convenience of voters at polling booths, more than 1.20 lakh volunteers were trained, who played an important role in queue management and for elderly and handicapped voters.
For peaceful voting, all checkposts were equipped with CCTV cameras and polling booths were monitored by webcasting inside and outside.
To make voters aware, hashtag campaigns were run on internet media and voter awareness programs were run under SVEEP at a large scale.
Along with this, booth level awareness groups were also formed at all polling booths, through which voters were motivated to vote.
Due to the awareness campaign run under the leadership of the Chief Electoral Officer, the voting percentage in the Lok Sabha elections increase and highest voting percentage gained in assembly election
2024.
The voting percentage of women voters also increased.
