UditVani, Ranchi: Virendra Ram, the suspended Chief Engineer of the Rural Development Department, has received a major relief from the Supreme Court after being in jail for 21 months. On Monday, Justice Abhay S. Oka’s bench accepted his bail petition and ordered his release on bail.
ED’s Raids and Arrest
It is important to note that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Virendra Ram on February 22, 2023, in a case of disproportionate assets. A day earlier, on February 21, the ED had raided 24 properties associated with him. During these raids, the ED recovered jewelry worth around ₹1.5 crore and documents related to investments worth crores of rupees in various cities across the country.
Post-Bail Situation
With the Supreme Court granting bail, Virendra Ram has been relieved, but his case and the ED’s investigation will continue.
