
UditVani, Jamshedpur : Jamshedpur is fully prepared to host a historic and culturally significant event as President of India Droupadi Murmu arrives on December 29 to participate in the Centenary Celebration of the Ol Chiki Script.
The city has been transformed with elaborate arrangements to mark the occasion, which holds deep importance for Santhali language and tribal heritage.
The President will be present at the main ceremony for approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.
In keeping with rich tribal traditions, she will be accorded a ceremonial welcome with the resonant beats of Sendra Dhun, a traditional Santhali percussion performance.
For this special welcome, 12 performers are undergoing intensive training at the Karandih Dishom Jaherthan.
Grand Arrangements at Karandih Jaherthan
At a press conference, Ravindra Murmu, Secretary of the Organising Committee, informed that the venue at Karandih Jaherthan has seating arrangements for around 1,000 people.
Nearly 800 delegates from different states across India are expected to attend the centenary celebration.
Entry to the venue will begin at 7:00 am on December 29 and continue until 9:30 am.
After this , entry will be strictly prohibited in view of security protocols.
Dignitaries to Grace the Occasion
According to Ravindranath Murmu, general secretary of the All India Santhali Writers Association, the ceremony will also be attended by Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and Padma Shri awardee and Jhargram MLA Kalin Soren, among other eminent personalities.
Parking and Security Arrangements
For security reasons, parking near the venue will not be allowed. All vehicles will be parked at LBSM College, located approximately one kilometre from the event site.
City Dressed in White and Saffron
In anticipation of the President’s visit, Jamshedpur has been given a festive makeover.
From the railway station to Karandih Jaherthan, roadside trees are being painted in white and saffron, symbolising celebration and tradition. Damaged roads along the route have been repaired and resurfaced to ensure smooth movement.
Meanwhile, a 25-member band group from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya has been practising relentlessly, day and night, to deliver a flawless performance during the event.
100 Individuals and Institutions to Be Honoured
A key highlight of the centenary celebration will be the felicitation of 100 individuals and institutions for their outstanding contribution to the promotion and preservation of the Ol Chiki script and Santhali language.
Several prominent organisations, including Tata Steel Foundation, will be among the awardees.
President Murmu herself will confer special honours on 10 distinguished personalities.
Cultural Grandeur to Mark the Welcome
The President will be formally welcomed by students of Kasturba Gandhi Residential School, Potka, through a vibrant band performance accompanied by traditional tribal musical instruments, adding grandeur and cultural richness to the ceremony.
All administrative and security arrangements have been completed to ensure that the Ol Chiki Script Centenary Celebration is conducted smoothly, safely, and with the dignity befitting this landmark cultural milestone.
